This bird was pecking on a tree stump, just a few feet off the swamp floor.

He or she was kind enough to strike a pose while clinging to a tree at about eye level.

This beauty was perched high in a tree, drying its wings in the late afternoon sun.

It jumped up to the railing of the boardwalk in the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, looked us over, and moved on to search for food.

I would go back to Florida next year just to get a better shot of this amazing acrobat in flight.

This one is about 50 feet up on a dead tree.

That’s not a typo! This is an juvenile. It’s dark blue feathers don’t come in until it reaches adulthood.
